Learn the art and craft of the modern barista with City Bean’s experienced coffee educators.

This 2.5-hour class focuses on the fundamentals of hand-brewing coffee using pour-over methods and immersion techniques. Rooted in the principles, science and trade of great brewing, the course covers grind size, brew ratios, water temperature, extraction theory, and the variables that influence cup quality. You’ll get hands-on experience with brewers like the V60, Chemex, and French Press, learning how to measure, time, pour, and taste with intention.

Whether you're a curious coffee drinker or an aspiring barista, this class will deepen your understanding of how to brew a better cup every time. You’ll leave with the knowledge to experiment confidently at home—or bring precision and consistency to a professional setting.

Parking:
Street parking only - West View St or La Brea Ave, both around the corner from our Jefferson Blvd entrance, typically offer the easiest parking. Please plan accordingly and be on time, class begins promptly at the indicated start time.

Cancellations:
Your training session is NON-REFUNDABLE. Cancellations received via email (info@citybean.com) at least 72 hours before the start of class may be rescheduled to a future session, at City Bean’s discretion.
